Abby’s Picks

Abby Lopez grew up in the south Bronx neighborhood of New York City. She’s had her fare share of good and bad luck. Right now her love life isn’t so hot.

“Why do I always pick the wrong guy” Abby said to herself.

Abby currently had a few situationships going and none of them filled her the way her late wife had. She always looked for the little details that made her fall in love with Georgia in others and every time she fails miserably.

Doris is the most regular person for Abby. She cares about her but Doris is beyond inconsistent. They’ve been seeing each other for about 8 months or so. They have bouts of consistent Friday night dates. But on three separate occasions Doris left Abby hanging and disappointed. Right now Abby wants to let go before things get worse but she also low key hopes Doris gives her a reason to stay.

Then there’s Angela, three years of ups, downs, and misunderstandings. Angela should have been long gone but Abby can’t seem to let go. She loves Angela, she’s attached to her because nobody understands Abby post loss more than Angela. She just gets it. The grief, the pain, the anxiety, the depression, Angela understands Abby and can relate to whatever Abby feels no matter how dark. Despite all the bullshit, needing someone like that is important to Abby. Makes her feel less alone even if she gets hurt from time to time. Plus the sex is unbelievable.

Then there’s Cherie, pronounced Cherry. That alone should be a red flag. Cherie and Abby had one perfect date. Literally perfect. But Cherie is more inconsistent than Doris! I’m convinced that she has a roster and copies and pastes the good morning text every day. Probably see who bites and who’s catching on. One thing Abby doesn’t understand is why continue with the texts if they’re not interested. Maybe they’re addicted to that attention they get from several people at a time. Sound familiar there Abbs?

Our girl sure knows how to pick them. Maybe next week we’ll have made some decisions. Or meet new characters in our story. Anyone feeling any of these options? Me neither.
